What is ancient is made new again through the
contemporary designs of Jeri Goodman GlassArt. Jeri's designs are created
exclusively using an
ancient technique known as kiln-formed glassworking.
Beauty and sensuality, qualities whose relevance has
risen in the Art world over the last two decades, have always been among the
attributes of Jeri's designs. The inspiration for her work comes
from many sources. It might be the chance mixing of the colors of flowers
in a garden, the design in an old piece of tapestry, or the skyline of a city at
sunset. She takes these accumulated images and colors back to her studio
and endeavors to express them in her own contemporary style of glass.
Most recently, Jeri has added jewelry to her portfolio
of contemporary glass. She was inspired to incorporate cold-working
and polishing techniques into her work in the summer of 2005, after studying
with Frantisek Janak of the Czech Republic. The clean geometric lines of
cut and polished glass, combined with the wide array of colors available by
using dichroics, have also led her to add
PMC Silver settings to
her jewelry. Using her previous skills as a ceramic artist, she fashions
PMC clay into complementary mountings that become pure silver metal when
fired.
